A couple from Northern California was spending a normal day and they decided to go for a walk with their dog. However, what they did not expect is this walk will change their lives forever.

While walking on their land, they got curious with a rusted metal can sticking out of the ground. The decided to go and dig out the cans and was amazed when they found actual gold pieces contained in it. After thoroughly searching, they were able to see seven more cans with same gold pieces in them. In total, there are 1, 400 gold pieces found in the cans!

They made a wise move by going to a coin expert of local currency firm Kagin’s, David McCarthy and they gave him a sample.  According to McCarthy, the gold coins were dated from mid to late 1800s and the value hasn’t been changed yet. The values are around 1400 $20 gold pieces, 50 $10 and 4 $5 gold pieces. What amazed them more is one special coin which is a collector’s edition and is worth $1M!

"It was a very surreal moment. It was very hard to believe at first. I thought any second an old miner with a mule was going to appear,” the man said to to David McCarthy during the consultation.

Kagin’s will be the one to sell most of the coins for the couple on Amazon. They will also be shown at American Numismatic Association show in Atlanta. 

The identity of the couple is anonymous which is very understandable to protect their safety and security. Their find was tagged as the “Saddle Ridge Hoard.” It is believed that this was the biggest hoard of gold coins ever unearthed in the United States.
