Vice Ganda was still a teenager when his father was shot dead in front of him. The incident may be painful for the Kapamilya comedian but it did not stop him from standing firm in his opposition to the restoration of the death penalty

According to Inquirer, the man behind the murder of Vice Ganda’s father is still at large. However, he still considers the death penalty as an inhumane act that nobody deserves to experience. As a person who witnesses violence himself, putting his father’s assailant on the death row will not give him justice.

“Kunwari ako, pinatay ang tatay ko, hindi makakapagbigay ng katarungan sa akin, bilang naulila, ang patayin din iyong pumatay sa tatay ko,” Vice Ganda told the press in an interview.

The comedian strongly believes that there is a great need to fix the country’s justice system first before reviving the death penalty. He also believes that not all prisoners are really guilty of their crimes. It would be totally unfair for them to be penalized with death if they really did not commit the crime accused upon them.

It’s Showtime host said.

Furthermore, he also gave consideration to the children who might lose their parents through state murder. He said that no child deserves to experience the sorrow that he felt when he lost his father at an early age.
