After a yearlong hiatus from TV, Lauren Young recently shared how she is spending her time nowadays.

It was in January of 2016 when the young actress last appeared on TV, starring in GMA's Marimar. Her older sister, Megan Young, played the eponymous role of Marimar

According to Lauren, she is currently busy with her business.

“Me and my friends, we started a production house."

"It’s called Stronghold MNL, so we’ve been producing content for digital campaigns, websites, photography and graphics. So more on BTS [behind the scenes] work yung ginawa ko, production.”

When asked about why she thought of venturing into this particular kind of business, Lauren said:

“I guess, at that time kasi when we started, wala pang show. So I’m like, 'Okay, I might as well do something else habang nagaantay ako."

She noted that she always had this passion for creativity and said, “Because I think it was... nakuha ko siya because I went to CSB [College of St. Benilde], which is known for being a film school. And I had a lot of friends who were taking up Film and I was doing films as well, so that was a huge influence."

“Going to CSB and seeing how creative these young students are. And I decided, since my friends they were starting it and they invited me. And I was like, ‘Okay, why not?’"

“I mean this is something I’m passionate about—I love telling stories, I love producing content, and it would be something that’s nice because it’s not super-far off sa ginagawa ko which is acting. So yun."

“I mean, I had knowledge about it already and I wanted to learn more. So by doing this, it was somewhat different, but still kind of safe pa rin. And it just so happened na for that year, you know, I enjoyed it so much."

“At the same time, wala pa namang show, di ba? It’s nice to keep myself busy.”

Lauren also shared that she has 2 years to go before she can finish her degree in CSB.

Despite her business and pending school work, she recently signed another 3-year contract with GMA. Being a former talent of ABS-CBN, she was asked whether she was considering going back to her first showbiz home in the future.

Lauren Young Compares ABS-CBN to GMA-7: 'I will never, ever say anything bad about ABS-CBN because that was my first home.'

She answered:

“The work is consistent! You know, I will never, ever say anything bad about ABS-CBN because that was my first home and that’s where I learned how to act and learned how to do everything that I know now."

“But I guess it’s just… I feel like this is where [GMA] I need to be right now and this is where I’m comfortable right now. And I just really enjoy it here.”

Currently, she is busy taping her forthcoming TV series in GMA-7, 'Legally Blind'. But she assures everyone that she will still be active with her business.

“I talked to my partners, I was like, ‘You know, ito talaga yung kabuhayan ko, acting. So I really have to focus on this. And once ma-settle in ako, it’s something that I will do simultaneously.”

She also plans to take up Culinary Arts someday.

“Siguro right now, it’s just not something that I can do, but I still wanna do it. Siguro in the future, pag puwede na, pag may oras pa. Mahal mag-Culinary, kailangan kong mag-ipon muna,”
