[Trending Now] Former OFW Who Returned to PH to Finish Her Studies Among Tanay Field Trip Accident Casualties

Recently, a field trip turned into a horrible incident and shook the whole country. While a bus was on its way home from a camping trip in Tanay, it hit a post which led to the deaths of 15 students on board and left most of the 50 passengers severely injured.

One of the casualties was Lovely Seringan, 26 years old, a former OFW. According to her parents, Lovely went home to continue her studies and obtain her degree.

Her brothers, who are all in the military, can't help but express their anger for the fact that the school required the trip.

"Once na hindi sasama sa field trip, ibabagsak daw nila 'yung mga estudyante.. or else pagagawan ng thesis... imagine first year pa lang pagagawan mo na ng thesis?" said Lovely's Brother, Staff Sgt. Nixon Seringan.

Families of the deceased shared the same sentiment, with one of them noting that they didn't sign any waiver.

"'Yung mga anak namin dapat may dalang waiver para doon sa camping na 'yon. pero wala. maaari siguro yung iba, pero kami wala. Sa lahat ng eskwelahan, alisin na 'yung field trip na yan," said Gilbert Cerezo, a father of one of the victims. 

However, Bestlink College of the Philippines (BCP) denied that they required the trip.

"We are not forcing the students na 'o pag di kayo sumama, ganyan ganyan mangyayari. We are giving them their own free will to decide," said BCP's school activities coordinator, Zanny Samsona.

"Alam po namin kasi bilang mga magulang, may mga mixed emotions po sila ngayon pero rest assured na kung ano po makakaya ng eskwelahan bibigyan po namin sila ng suporta," he said.
