Our country's electrical grid is controlled by private companies who have every reason to keep raising the price of electricity. This is why many Filipinos are willing to do everything just to lower their electrical bills. This is also the reason why many people became victims to an ongoing scam which involves a fake power-saving device.

Netizen Sherly Ollide shared on Facebook her experience with the fake power-saving device. According to her, a group of sales people went to her barangay to sell an alleged power-saving device that could lower the rate of electrical usage in the user's meter. The gadget is worth P 6,500 but they also offered a downpayment option. Sherly shared that she was impressed with the explanations and demonstrations made by the sellers so she bought one. 

However, when she decided to inspect the gadget, she found out that the gadget is full of sawdust and other woody material. She also pointed out that this makes the gadget a fire hazard, as electricity can create heat which may spark a fire. 

She warned her followers of this modus operandi and aimed to spread awareness regarding this marketing gimmick.
