Michael Faling and his 12-year-old son, Corey, have been into unimaginable circumstances. Being a single dad, it had been hard on Michael to raise Corey alone. But things got worse when Michael lost his job and had been unable to cover the rent. They found themselves searching for city shelters but none was able to help them. They were forced to live in the woods devastated.
"My son kept saying to me, 'why doesn't anybody like us?'"Michael shared.
But things turned around when Mel Woods came to their lives. Mel, having lost her husband 6 years ago, longed to make a difference. When she heard about Michael and Corey's situation, she offered them to stay in her home until Michael can find a job. According to her, this is the best way of healing- helping others.
"I think it should just be natural [to help others],"she said.
"When you have more than you need, don't build a higher fence - build a longer table," she quoted.
