In line with President Rodrigo Duterte's directive to accelerate the relocation of Yolanda victims in Tacloban, about 180 families from Barangay 88 San Jose have been transferred to their permanent homes in North Hills Arbor in Barangay Santo Nino, last Monday.

Most of them previously lived in Sitio Kataisan, Sitio Alimasag, Old Terminal, Fisherman's Village, Timex, and Villa Cinco.

The relocation was facilitated by military trucks, who started as early as 8am and was supervised by Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino.

Electricity is already running in these houses. However, the 53rd Engineering Brigade will have to put two water tanks to supply water, as potable water is not yet available.

The Department of Public Works and Highways will be constructing a shallow pump to supply water for laundry and bathing needs.

Construction of resettlement sites are still ongoing.

The NHA’s target is 14,433 houses, 7,000 of which are already finished. 2,101 of these houses were already turned over. City Mayor Cristina Romualdez said that relocation is dependent on the houses' availability.

Meanwhile, the local government will install a satellite office in the city hall to address the concerns of the citizens.
