As a nation, Filipinos have all grown up to the fact that some of their loved ones have to go to other countries to give their family a better life.

They take up all sorts of job just to be able to send money on time. But then there’s also the fact that Filipinos love to sing. Combine that two together, and you have people like Rose Marie Velasquez.

The 28-year old Filipina singer from Arayat, Pampanga has turned chairs and impressed all four judges on the singing competition, “The Voice Romania”.

She sang her version of Andra Day’s “Rise Up” as her audition piece.

The judges were seen to have no hesitations when they were about to hit the big button, as the Filipina serenaded the whole stadium that was broadcasted on Romanian television.

All four which includes actor-singer Tudor Chirila, Grammy-nominated producer-composer Marius Moga, pop star Loredana Groza, and singer-songwriter Smiley turned their chairs in hopes to coach the Filipina talent.

“The way you sang fascinated me, ” Groza said.

“When my wife was pregnant and expecting our daughter, we thought to baptize [her] Rose Marie.But eventually, I decided to call [her] Maria. Now you came [as] Rose Marie and I hope to have [you on] my team, ” Moga said in Romanian, according to local site Libertatea.

In addition, Chiril praised the Filipina’s exceptional vocals. “We feel like [we were] in a soap opera in the Philippines,” he said.

The episode aired on last Friday’s blind auditions.

After all their sales talk to get her, Velasquez chose Smiley to be her coach.
