Artist Chaz Hutton can make life seem easy, perfectly summing it up on a single Post-it note. This time, however, Chaz tamed his brilliant insight to reveal what alcoholic drinks are really made of.

“I used to be an architect, but designing buildings is actually quite hard and I didn’t have the patience, so drawing stuff on little bits of yellow paper seemed like a step in the right direction for me,” Hutton told the BBC. “I’m still not comfortable with the term cartoonist, or illustrator, or artist, mainly due to the fact that I consider this level of drawing skill far below those kinds of titles.” This medium, however, is all that Chad needs to unleash his creativity.

Are you growing grapes to produce wine? Harvesting grain to craft a barrel of beer? These are the old fashioned ways. There are alternative ingredients you can use, and Chaz Hutton is kind enough to let us in on them. The recipes first appeared in The New Yorker under the title “A Millennial’s Guide to Cocktails”, and lately have been blowing up on the internet. Scroll down to please your inner booze snob and let us know in the comments what do you think about the series!
