Check out these incredible shots by musician and photographer Reuben Wu. Reuben is known for his pioneering methods of using drone-mounted lights to illuminate landscapes, giving them an otherworldly quality reminiscent of a sci-fi movie.

The alien vibe is very much the aim of Reuben’s work. “We are overwhelmed everyday by beautiful images of the familiar,” he said. “I imagine these scenes transformed into undiscovered landscapes which renew our perceptions of our world.”

So the beautiful rock formations, mountains and desert scenes that we are all so familiar with are reimagined with “ideas of planetary exploration, 19th century sublime romantic painting, and science fiction.”

While using his drone to light up the majestic mountain scenes, he began capturing the light paths of the drone with a long exposure, and discovered that this added another element to his images. The ‘halo’ effect is particularly impressive!
