In the footage filmed moments after the 8.1 magnitude quake struck, mysterious blue and green flashes light up the sky above Mexico City.
The terrifying clip left many viewers stunned – with several questioning how the bizarre phenomenon had occurred.
“It’s like the Northern Lights – but chilling,” one viewer said.
But another commented: “It’s our alien overlords coming to take over.”
The bizarre lights have left many confused as very little is known about why they occur.
Some questioned whether the lights were a result of power supplies being hit while others claim they have been reported for thousands of years.
