[Trending Now] This OFW Was Slapped, Punched And Spilled With Boiling Water by Her Employer in Jordan.

OFW abuse has become common news today. But thanks to the digital age, our modern day heroes can now easily cry for help just by posting a video or a message on social media. Such is the case of overseas Filipino worker, Marjorie Manalang. Marjorie is an OFW in Jordan working as a house helper. 

Marjorie complained to her agency that her employer has been harming her. As expected, the agency did not believe her and simply dismissed her claims. As a last resort, she made a video asking her sister, Sarah Jane Manalang, for help. Sarah Jane then turned to Raffy Tulfo to ask for help.

According to what Marjorie told Sarah Jane, her female employer apparently poured hot tea all over her on purpose. However, this wasn’t the first time that the employer did this to Marjorie. Marjorie said that her female employer used to slap her whenever she wasn’t able to properly accomplish her tasks. The second time, the employer hit Marjorie on her head using a glass pitcher. The third instance was when she hit Marjorie on her stomach. Finally, the employer poured hot tea on her. Marjorie even took photos of her bruises as proof of what her employer was doing to her. 

To know the entire story, Raffy Tulfo decided to call Lyka Macapelden the manager of JVR Placement Company Inc., which is Marjorie’s employment agency. 

According to Lyka, Marjorie’s employer didn’t mean to pour hot tea all over her. She even defended Marjorie’s employer by saying that she works for the human rights department in Jordan.  

Raffy Tulfo then argued that even human rights employees are not totally free from sins. As a solution, Tulfo asked the employment agency to allow Marjorie to return to the country with the help of Marissa Cruz from the Advocacy and Social Marketing Division of OWWA.
