[Trending Now] Sad Keanu: Learn the Truth Behind Keanu Reeves’ Tragic Life.

Keanu Reeves is one of the most acclaimed actors of today. He started his acting career in the 80s but what truly brought him into the spotlight was when he played the role of Neo in the Matrix. 

The first film in the critically-acclaimed science fiction franchise earned a remarkable $463.5 million at the box office and was nominated for – and won – four Academy Awards.

But behind his success in the realm of show business, Keanu has undergone profound hardships throughout his life. 

Facebook page ‘Truth Slap’ posted a tear-jerking compilation of his tragic encounters in his life. It immediately earned around 122,000 reactions from netizens and 46,900 shares.

At the age of three, Keanu’s father left their family. They stayed in touch for a few years, but then completely lost contact after his parents' divorce. He and his mother moved from city to city and he lived with various stepfathers during his childhood.

But in a 2002 interview, Keanu said his father was still in his life until he was 13.

“I spent my last vacation with him when I was 13 years old. On our last day we sat on the veranda and stared at the dark sky. He hardly said anything that evening. The next day he brought us to the airport. Then we didn’t hear anything from him for 10 years. No calls, no letters, nothing,” Keanu shared.

Within five years, he attended four high schools. He struggled with dyslexia which made his education difficult. 

In a 2008 interview with Daily Mail, Keanu said, “I wasn’t the best student but I don’t remember having trouble fitting in. I kind of blended in.”

At the age of 23, Keanu’s best friend River Phoenix died of a drug overdose outside a Los Angeles nightclub. They acted in the film My Own Private Idaho.

In 1998, he met the love of his life, Jennifer Syme. A year later, she was pregnant with their daughter. Unfortunately, the child was stillborn. This tragedy tore them apart, but the pain didn’t end there. Eighteen months after their separation, Jennifer was killed in a car accident.

Keanu then told Parade Magazine in 2006, "Grief changes shape, but it never ends."

In 1991, Keanu’s sister Kim was diagnosed with leukemia. An article was published in Australia and mentioned that Keanu had “lovingly supported” his sister throughout her illness. Media reports as recent as 2015 claim that Kim Reeves is still battling leukemia.

Ladies Home Journal in 2009 mentioned in an article that Keanu has a private charitable foundation. This may be linked to his empathy for those suffering from his sister’s illness.

“I have a private foundation that’s been running for five or six years, and it helps aid a couple of children’s hospitals and cancer research. I don’t like to attach my name to it, I just let the foundation do what it does,” he said.

The Facebook post also claims that Keanu doesn't have bodyguards, doesn't wear fancy clothes, and doesn’t own a big house like other stars. 

When they asked him about 'Sad Keanu', he just replied, “You need to be happy to live, I don't."
