Medicine has come a long way and continues to advance in order to help protect humanity from diseases and illnesses.
Yet even with the advances in medicine, one particular disease continues to plague mankind – cancer.
According to a report by cancer.gov, there were 14 million new cases and 8.2 million cancer-related deaths worldwide back in 2012.
Arguably no other family has had to endure the lasting hardships that come with this terrible disease, than the Go Pangcoga family.
The heartache of the Go Pangcoga family first began when their eldest son Rowden was diagnosed with stage IV liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma.)
The family was stunned to hear that doctors gave the young man only 3 weeks to live.
Rowden’s final wish was to be married to the love of his life, Liezl May, with daughter Zakiah as their flower girl.
His story became a trending topic all over social media and the world. 10 hours after his wedding, which was held at the hospital, Rowden passed on.

Unfortunately, Rowden’s death wasn’t the first tragedy the family had to endure. One month after the eldest brother passed, the Go-Pangcoga family all decided to get doctors’ appointments to check on their health.
Doctors found out that Hasset, the middle brother and a renowned Filipino chef, had stage III liver cancer.
The family spared no time and had Hasset undergo surgery to save him from the aggressive disease. Hasset tried everything in his disposal, from alternative medication to chemotherapy via TACE – to cure the growing tumor which came after his surgery. In October 2015, Hasset passed away.
However, the Go Pangcoga family was unforunate to receive one last piece of terrible news. Their youngest boy, Hisham ‘Moi’ Go Pangcoga was also diagnosed with the same liver cancer a few weeks later
Hisham was undergoing different medication for his disease, but recently the cancer kept growing and growing.
Along with the daily treatment he gets (which costs $ 8, 000), doctors had given him three treatment options, all of which are very expensive.
Each of these options could cost the young man $ 3, 000 to $ 4, 000 each session. Another option for Hisham was for him to undergo a liver transplant which in theory could completely cure him of cancer.
Regrettably, the surgery would cost the family around $100,000 if done at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH)
The Go0Pangcoga family has sent an appeal through social media, asking netizens to donate whatever they can for their family’s last son.
Hisham has an on-going GoFundMe campaign which netizens can donate to in order to save the young lad’s life.
To date, the GoFundMe campaign has garnered a total of $5,835 of the $150k goal.
