23-year-old University of the Philippines-Los Baños graduate Michael Kenneth Cruz went missing on Thursday morning when he left for his first day of work.
Cruz's family resides in Pasig and is now appealing to the public to help them discover their son's whereabouts.
Michael graduated magna cum laude in 2015 and is also a licensed chemical engineer. His family couldn't think of any answer as to why he suddenly went missing.
"Wala po siyang kaaway, napakabait na bata po ni Michael. Wala po akong idea kung bakit siya nawala," his mother said.
His family already put up posters and with photos of Michael in different transportation terminals throughout the metro in case people might come across him.
Andrea Baule, Cruz' girlfriend, told ABS-CBN news through phone patch that her boyfriend left early from his house in Pasig City for his first day of work in a food and beverage company in Balayan, Batangas.
She also said that she received a text message from him at 3 a.m. ffollowed by another one at 4 a.m. to update her about his location.
Baule knows that Cruz traveled from Pasig to a terminal on Taft Avenue, Pasay City since it was his usual route.
“Sabi niya po sa akin maglalakad-lakad po muna siya kasi naghihintay pa 'yung bus ng pasahero,” Baule said, recalling her boyfriend’s text message past 4 am.
At 7 a.m., Baule tried contacting her boyfriend repeatedly but to no avail. She got worried and called Cruz's family to check on him and they too were surprised when they received a call from the company saying Cruz did not report for work.
They immediately filed a missing person report with the Pasay City Police.
As of today, CCTV footage was released by Cruz's girlfriend showing him exiting Bartville to E.rodriguez avenue in Pasig. However, it still was not enough to show where he went after.
The Cruz family and Baule still ask for help to determine where Michael is. He was last seen wearing a gray jacket and was carrying a black bag.
