It seemed as if Former Miss Universe title holder Pia Wurtzbach has a new skill set to add to her resume. Apart from modeling and endorsing products, the beauty queen may just be the next woman to don the iconic red-and-gold costume that all Filipinos have learned to love.

In a report by ABS-CBN News, Pia has expressed her willingness to play Darna if ever it would be offered to her. Last January, she stated as a reply to one of her Twitter followers: “YES! I would love to play the Filipina version of Superwoman! DARNA!” 

The question was asked by Twitter user @MaxValdezMax. 

Many netizens have expressed their support for this as well. Twitter user @EndiRamos said: “Pia Wurtzbach is the only Filipina who can replace Angel as Darna! JUST LET HER SAVE THE WORLD, THE UNIVERSE RATHER. <3”

Another user, @princeyice, said: “So, sana @PiaWurtzbach and Marlon Stockinger as Darna and Efren respectively for TV & movies hehehe.” 

This was following the announcement that Star Cinema made on March 20, Monday, which said Angel Locsin would no longer be playing the heroine due to health problems, particularly in the spine and neck. 

Pia also mentioned that she has been preparing for her comeback to showbiz, saying: “There are offers to go back to showbiz and I'm glad. Finally, I get to do showbiz because I've always imagined myself going back to that anyway.” 

She was a former talent of ABS-CBN and was among one of the participants who appeared in the Star Circle Batch 11.
