Back in the early 2000’s, a Korean native instantly captured the hearts of people when she won second place in ABS-CBN’s reality talent show ‘Star Circle Quest’ after Hero Angeles.
She was Sandara Park and she became known as the ‘Pambansang Krung-Krung ng Pilipinas,” a reference to her quirky attitude and personality.
She became a mainstay in the Philippine showbiz scene when Star Magic handled her career and gave her projects with Hero, the boy whom she was paired with.
Sandara also received the ‘Best New Actress’ award when she starred in the movie ‘Bcuz of U’ in 2004, which was given to her at the 21st Philippine Movie Press Club Star Awards.
She was also nominated for the ‘Best Performance by an Actress in Leading Role (Musical or Comedy)’ in the 2006 Golden Screen Awards.
By 2006, she was paired with Joseph Bitangcol, who was also a graduate of ‘Star Circle Quest.’ This was due to the fact that Hero had decided to “retire” from showbiz that time.
In the later part of 2006, Sandara released her fourth and last movie in the Philippines, ‘Super Noypi,’ which became an official entry to the 32nd Metro Manila Film Festival. The actress finally left her showbiz roots when she left the country in August 2007 with her family.
It wasn’t long before she visited the Philippines once again—in 2014, the Korean returned, this time, having established herself a solid music career in South Korea as a part of the girl group ‘2NE1.’
She appeared as a guest in ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ and since then, have been invited to appear on several other shows as well. Recently though, Sandara is seen spotted with Robi Domingo, Gretchen Ho’s ex-boyfriend.
ABS-CBN News reported that the host was frequently seen with the actress during her visits in the country. Sandara denied that there was anything going on between then and said in an interview with Vice Ganda, “Friends kami. He’s very mabait na kaibigan.”
Robi and Sandara, according to the report, have been longtime friends ever since. When Robi visited South Korea in 2015, he dropped by and met up with the actress.
