Last week, readers may remember that Senator De Lima announced that she is expecting a warrant of arrest from the DOJ any time soon. This is regarding her alleged involvement in the drug trade as told by former drug dealer, Kerwin Espinosa.

According to a report by GMA News that was published on Monday, February 20, 2017, De Lima had the following to say about her impending arrest:

“Hindi ko po, hinding-hindi ko po inabuso ang aking kapangyarihan. That’s why I do not deserve this kasi wala naman ho talagang basehan 'yung mga binabato nila sa akin na mga kaso ngayon,” De Lima said in a radio interview Monday."

De Lima stands by her conviction that none of the accusations that the current administration has thrown against her are true.

On Tuesday, February 21, 2017, De Lima made a callback to the Martial Law days when she said the following in recognition of the thirtieth anniversary of the People Power Revolution that will happen at the end of this week:

“Ngayon ay panahon na naman upang tayo ay manindigan at tumayo sa harap ng isang kriminal na diktador at rehimeng mapaniil.”

“Ipaglaban natin ang ating karapatan, ang hustisya at ang ating demokrasaya."

But the highlight of the senator's short speech on Tuesday was what she had to say about the leader of the current administration that seems to be set on convicting her.

“Alam na natin na walang batayang prinsipyo ang mga aksyon ng Pangulo. Basta trip niya, gagawin niya. Hindi dahil tama o mali, kung hindi kaya niyang gawin at hinahayaan lang natin siya," said the former Justice Secretary.

De Lima also added the following in her speech: "“Ang tawag dito, kawalan ng pakundangan.”

In response to Senator De Lima's statements, presidential spokesperson, Ernesto Abella reportedly said the following at a press briefing:

"Those are colorful language."
