Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) cut off Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) after catching three foreigners who were supposedly trying to smuggle P135-million worth of narcotics to the country.

NAIA’s district custom collector Ed Macabeo recognized the suspects as Hong Kong nationals who are drug trafficker. They are Chan Kawai and Pau Homanevan and Kirdyushkin Yuri, a Russian national.

Macabeo claimed that the three foreigners originally came from Brazil and tried to sneak in what is suspected to be cocaine which has a total of nearly 19 kilograms. There is also methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu that was purportedly hidden in their baggage.

The illegal drug task force in NAIA was already advised that there will be an arrival of a large amount of narcotics through foreign couriers before they cut off the suspects.

At 4:30 pm the three foreigners arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 from their flight from Dubai. They were then asked to go to the Customs office for the inspection of their bags.
Macabeo said upon the inspection, the baggage of the foreigners has 9.9 kilograms of powder and liquid cocaine together with the 9 kilograms of shabu

PDEA conducted a test on the illegal drug that they have confiscated and the three foreigners were taken to custody.

The Inter-Agency on Drug Interdiction Task Group got a hold of the information at noon from the US Drug Enforcement Agency on the coming of the three suspected drug traffickers, according to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).
