"Nakakapagod na rin magbasa between the lines."
That's what Sen. Panfilo Lacson said last Sunday, admitting that he is fed up in interpreting controversial pronouncements and statements of President Rodrigo Duterte
When he was asked in radio dzBB about the president's latest remark on comparing his method of war against drugs to Adolf Hitler's genocide of six million Jews during World War II, He said it was really hard to interpret his statements specially because it always drew criticisms from international community.
"Nakakapagod na rin magbasa betwen the lines lalo na sa atin, sa labas ng bansa, international community, they take the words as they come out of the mouth of the President," Lacson said.
"Hindi naman puwede na ibu-burden mo pa sila na mag-interpret o magbasa between the lines," he added, saying that it was clear and not really open for interpretation that the President was trying to make a comparison with his now infamous "Hitler remark."
He added the he pities the president's chief executive communication team.
On Sunday, Duterte apologized to the Jewish community for his remark at his speech in Negros Occidental.
"I would like to make it here and now that there was never an intention on my part to derogate the memory of the six million Jews murdered by the Germans... I apologize profoundly and deeply to the Jewish [community]," he said during the opening ceremony of the Masskara Festival in Bacolod City.
Lacon hoped Duterte would be more cautious with his public pronouncements, since they could easily be construed as the country's policy statements.
