[Trending Now] Magdalo Representative Sides With De Lima; Claims Inmates Were Forced To Testify: 'Kontrolado Na Sila Ng Kanilang Mga Guwardiya o Ng DOJ.'

Senator Leila De Lima has been in the hotseat since the senate hearing on extrajudicial killings started. She has been the subject of many headlines as well as the source of many netizens' anger. Senators also gang up on her during some parts of the hearing and she is now facing many allegations. 

However, one representative had the guts to defend De Lima despite its dangers and downsides. Magdalo Party-List representative, Gary Alejano, believes that De Lima is innocent. 

"She is innocent."

This is after high profile Jaybee Sebastian finally showed up in the inquiry in the House of Representatives following a stabbing incident inside the New Bilibid Prison which almost killed him. 

Alejano noted that there were inconsistencies on the testimonies of the inmates and their goals were to "destroy De Lima's credibility" and "paint all those involved as her boyfriends."

He added that in his opinion, witnesses inside the Bilibid do not have credibility. He further explained that although some parts of their testimonies are true, the question would be on how these personalities are connected. 

He also said that they have nothing to lose as most of them have life sentences. 

He also noted how Sebastian wasn't really willing to testify since the beginning:

Meanwhile, Alejano is not alone in this belief. Albay Representative Edcel Lagman called the probe as "a comedy of errors".

Caloocan Representative Egay Erice feels the same and said "I did not participate (in it) because it's garbage.It's not a hearing. (It's a) propaganda tool to cover up for the investigation on the extrajudicial killings."

Ifugao Representative Teddy Baguilat agrees and said: "Para magka-chilling effect sa kritiko. Ito (ang) mangyayari sa iyo."
