It's bad news for all chainsmokers out there as President Rodrigo is to sign Executive Order banning smoking in public places this month.
Health Secretary Pauline Jean Ubial says "“The president will already sign that EO. Probably within October,”
“What is being done in Davao is set to be done nationwide,” she added.
“There will be nobody smoking in public places anymore, whether indoor or outdoor. Parks, bus stations, and even in vehicles. All these are considered public places,”
"We are still trying to explore amending the law, RA 9211 because of the many contentious issues and gray areas,” referring to the Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003 which they will strongly push this month. Among the gray areas they believe are the point-of-sale advertisements as well as the the designated smoking areas.
