But behind those adorable faces lies a fear and heartbreak that they don't often tal about.

In Denver, CO, a young teacher encouraged her students to speak up their mind using an open-ended question.

Kyle Schwartz used a brightly-colored index card to ensure that her students will be enticed to answer the question.

“As a new teacher, I struggled to understand the reality of my students’ lives and how to best support them,” Kyle said. “I just felt like there was something I didn’t know about my students.”

The answers of the students shocked the teacher. Some of them are happy enough to share their name but others showed the heartbreaking truth about their lives.

Even when what my students are sharing is sensitive in nature, most students want their classmates to know,” Kyle said.
