Senator Manny Pacquiao admitted that he used and experimented on various drugs when he's still a teenager, but he is now a changed man.

He said he stopped using drugs after he felt the effects of drugs on his body and after he became a world boxing champion that Filipinos idolized.

“I tried drugs before and then I realized that it’s not good for the body. I accept that, I cannot deny I, that’s before,” Pacquiao said.

He said his experience with drugs is one of the primary reasons why he strongly supports President Rodrigo Duterte’s on-going campaign against drugs.

“And that’s how I strongly support the president, how he fight(s) these (trade of) illegal drugs,” Pacquaio said.

Furthermore, he defended President Duterte from criticisms of being foul-mouthed and brutal.

“He’s a very nice person, a nice guy. He is a respectful person, a hospitable person, a friendly person," Pacquiao, a close friend of the President said.

Once again, he used God as a reason on why Duterte is in the highest position, citing God put him there to put discipline on everyone.

“God put him there for a reason, for a purpose — to discipline the people,” he said. “In the past administrations, people didn’t respect the law, the leader, the authorities. What Duterte is trying to do is let the people know — and put it in their hearts and minds— that you need to respect the law of the land.”

A strict born-again Christian, Pacquiao supports Duterte's plan of reviving death penalty to drug users.
