The most touching part of a wedding is the walk of the bride down the aisle. For the bride Jaquie Goncher, 25, she certainly had the most emotional walk down the aisle.
At the age of 17, she had a terrible accident that paralyzed her from her neck down. But during her wedding day, she surprised her guests as she stood up from her wheelchair to walk again.
She had a spinal cord injury as she was swimming and had an accident. The doctors declared that she will never walk again. But the odds were beaten after 6 months, she managed to stand on her own. It has been 8 years since she last walked on her own.
“I would go to the gym and get so frustrated that I wouldn’t go back, I was trying to make myself do it but I kept failing at it and then I would be disgusted with myself,” as she was talking to Cosmopolitan for an interview.
A year ago before her marriage, she decided to go after one goal and that is to walk and stand on her wedding day.
Almost all the people in the event were crying for such an amazing moment. For the whole 45 minutes of her wedding ceremony and the most part of her long reception that took 5 hours, she was standing and enjoying their wedding day.
“He was my cane, because I would hold on to him the entire time,” talking about her husband.
