Do you know what is the largest island in the world? If you thought Australia, we’re sorry to tell you this, but you’re wrong. It’s a continent. Although continental landmasses are entirely surrounded by water they are not classified as islands. Australia is usually considered to be the smallest of the four, the other three being the Americas, Antarctica, and Afro-Eurasia. As the smallest continent however, Australia is still three times bigger than the number one island on our list of the 25 largest islands in the world.
