A two-year-old baby and his 8-month-old sibling miraculously survived the tragic bus accident in Carrangalan, Nueva Ecija last Tuesday. The two babies were saved by their mother and aunt.

On April 18, a bus fell into a ravine because of failed brakes and curvy road that killed at least 32 passengers and injured over 20. Found outside the vehicle after the accident, the injured were immediately brought to the nearest hospital.

The deceased passengers were then sent to Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Hospital and Christian J Funeral Homes.

Local police is still investigating the incident. In an interview, Carrangalan Mayor Mary Abad stated that the bus was carrying 60 passengers while its capacity was only of 45. She also said that the highway was accident-prone.

“Accident-prone iyang highway going to Abra. Maraming bangin, zigzag ‘yan. Ang report sa amin ay 80 feet ang kinahulugan, dalawang taas ng kawayan, nahulog ‘yung bus, nawalan ng preno,” she said.
