The emergence of different kinds of equipment and gadgets prompts these criminals to be more innovative and be more creative in carrying out their illegal activities.

A recent Facebook warning went immediately viral as it alarmed many netizens on the possible invasion of privacy through taking a video or picture of them without their consent. The public warning captured the attention of many online users as the manner of how this illegal activity is being carried out was clever.  

Facebook page Trending News Info released a public service announcement asking women to be aware and careful when going inside public or private comfort rooms. They claimed that there is a possibility that hidden cameras are attached on the walls of these rooms, enabling criminals to capture videos or pictures of their private parts. The people behind this crime would extort money from their victims in exchange for keeping the materials in private. They included two photos which they claimed show the equipment that these criminals are using

These small hidden cameras cannot be noticed or recognized easily as they are hidden beside a normal-looking screw which is attached on the walls or doors of some comfort rooms.

Netizens were asked to always be alert and aware of their surroundings as people with bad intentions would do their best to achieve what they want. 

Meanwhile, those caught doing this crime may face charges of R.A No. 9995 or the “Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009”. Violators would be penalized with jail time not less than 3 years but not more than 7 years and monetary penalty of not less than P100,000 but not more than P500,000.
