Earlier this month, the social media community went upside down after several online blogs and news sites published an article exposing an unnamed Filipina and her fantasies. According to these articles, this lady was sent to the hospital after she used a giant “kamote” or cassava to pleasure herself.

The articles failed to name the victim saying that she was not contented using a cucumber hence she took her sexual fantasies to the next level. While some people believe that this is not impossible, others are arguing that the story is just fabricated. They claimed that the original source of that particular news just invented a story so that they may create discussion among bored netizens.

But since the father of psychology Sigmund Freud once dubbed humans as ‘sexual creatures’, there are social media users who really put their best effort to prove that the story really happened.

As a matter of fact, Facebook page Now Reader even uploaded the actual footage of surgeons removing this gigantic cassava from a person’s anus! The page claimed that the initial story about a Filipina using the cassava to pleasure herself is indeed true and their provided video serves as their proof.

While the video seems legit, further research found that the video is no way connected to the article. It was actually a surgery done to a Costa Rican man who inserted a gigantic cassava into his anus and used it as a s*x toy.

According to Daily Mail UK, the unnamed man used the 18-inch ‘kamote’ or cassava as his s*x toy. He was rushed to the hospital after one of the two condoms he used broke inside him.

The cassava started to infect and damage his intestines so the doctors had to spend more than one hour of medical operation just to remove it. Latest updates claimed that the victim is now at a stavle condition.

On this particular case, the story took place in Costa Rica and the victim is a man as opposed to the viral articles claiming the victim was a Filipina.

So the lesson here is that not all that you read and watch on the internet is true. Just because these Facebook pages provided some videos, does not always mean that these things really happen the way they say they do. Truth, exposed! Myth, busted!

What can you say about social media users who fabricate stories for their benefit? Do you think some sort of a regulation should be imposed to avoid the proliferation of these ‘fake stories’? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
