The kwek-kwek is one of the most iconic street foods in the Philippines. This local delicacy is prepared using hard boiled eggs dipped in an orange-colored coating made of flour mixed with water.

Many Filipinos consider this street food as their favorite merienda. Due to its popularity, a concerned netizen shared a video of a kwek-kwek vendor in Baclaran, Pasay City who was filmed recycling his unsold goods.

Facebook user Edward Evangelista uploaded a video showing a man removing the kwek-kwek’s orange coating before washing the eggs in a pail of water.

Netizens concluded that the kwek-kwek he sold was no longer fresh due to him being caught recycling his unsold food.

The video surprisingly received mixed reactions from the social media community.

Some of them claimed that the netizen who took the video does not have the right to comment on what the vendor was doing. They insisted that it was alright, despite the hygienic risks.

Meanwhile, other netizens defended other kwek-kwek vendors, saying not all of them do this kind of questionable practice.

The majority of the netizens who commented on the video said that the consumer must ensure the cleanliness of the food they purchase from street vendors.
