Tricycle Driver's Son Is the Topnotcher In the 2017 Physician Licensure Exams! What an Inspiration!

Karl Emmanuel Mercader from the University of Perpetual Help System got the highest score in the 2017 Physician Licensure Exam held in March.

By emerging no. 1 in the exam, Mercader proves that being poor is not an obstacle to success. Mercader got a score of 88.58 percent.

Meanwhile, Far Eastern University - Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation emerged as the top performing school, earning a passing rate of 88.20 percent. The Professional Regulation Commission will only consider a school as a top performer if it had more than a hundred examinees.

University of Santo Tomas earned an 88.89 percent passing rate with 32 of its 36 examinees making the cut. It was an improvement from their 2016 rate of 80.49 percent, where 33 of their 41 graduates passed gthe exam.

According to data from PRC, a total of 813 examinees from 1,317 passed the examinations from different parts of the world.

Karl is truly an inspiration to everyone who has ever felt held back by poverty. We hope he has a long and prosperous career as a new up-and-coming doctor!
