Recently, a video of a professor whose interview with the BBC concerning the impeachment of South Korean President Park Geun-Hye went viral when his live video conference was interrupted by his cute children.
Now, Robert Kelly and his family are speaking out about becoming an online sensation.
They say their newfound fame has been an overwhelming experience.
To recap what happened, Prof. Kelly was giving his insight about the ousting of the South Korean President when suddenly his daughter opened the door to his office and interrupted the proceedings.
Curious, the little girl went to her daddy’s side to see what he was up to. Soon enough her infant sibling followed suit.
As the situation grew more awkward for the professor, a panicked Asian woman – identified as Kelly’s wife – quickly dashed into the room to retrieve their children.
The office was revealed to have been his bedroom.
All of this was happening live on BBC News.
As it turns out, Kelly had simply forgotten to lock the door while in the video conference.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Prof. Kelly said, “I made this minor mistake that turned my family into YouTube stars."
“It’s pretty ridiculous,” he added.
In the same interview, Kelly's wife Kim Jung-A said, “most of the time they come back to me after they find the locked door. But they didn’t. And then I saw the door was open. It was chaos for me.”
Kelly admitted that because of the live disaster he thought that he would never be invited to speak to the BBC ever again. He even sent the English news company an apology e-mail.
Surprisingly, the broadcasting company asked permission to post the clip of Kelly's awkward interview online. The family originally didn’t want the clip to be published but later agreed to it.
Because of his newfound fame, Prof. Kelly and his wife said they were overwhelmed with the responses netizens sent their way.
Fortunately, the parents did not punish the children for innocently disrupting a serious discussion.
"I mean it was terribly cute," Kelly said. “Yes I was mortified, but I also want my kids to feel comfortable coming to me."
