The Philippines is considered as one of the “liberal” countries in Asia that widely accepts homosexuals, bisexuals, and transgendered people alike. There are lots of homosexuals in the entertainment industry and in everyday communities but despite the progress, there are still a number of LGBT members who are discriminated against and ridiculed.
However, this couple proved the world (or the internet, rather) that despite today’s mixed views on members of the LGBT; they are still able to celebrate their love, gender norms notwithstanding.
Facebook fan page ‘Ginalingan’ posted three photos that showed a guy who was surprised by another guy, presumably his boyfriend. The caption of the album read: “May nanalo na mga bes! Sobrang ginalingan!”
The photo showed the couple sitting and hugging in a room filled with red and pink balloons. Attached to the balloons were a series of photographs documenting the couple’s moments with each other.
On the bed was a teddy bear with three red balloons and a picture frame of the two, tied with a red ribbon. Apart from red balloons, one could also see a heart-shaped chocolate cake in the middle of the bed. It was decorated with a red flower. A bunch of roses could also be seen in the picture.
