The Triangle North of Manila, or the Trinoma Mall, located in Quezon City caught fire at around 2:25 p.m. It was raised to the second alarm by 2:34 p.m. This was according to an update by TxtFire Philippines.
ABS-CBN News reported that Fire Officer 1 1 Joan De Luna of the Tandang Sora fire substation reported that the fire allegedly started at an appliance warehouse near the MRT North Avenue station.
The fire was still under investigation and around 20 fire trucks had been sent to the area. Photos that were taken by netizens show smoke coming out of the mall.
The firefighters also used breathing apparatus because of the thickness of the smoke in the area.
The MRT-3 management, however, clarified that train operations are not affected by the fire. Meanwhile, a bystander said that MRT passengers are not allowed to enter the passageway from MRT to Trinoma.
Conrad Reyes told ABS-CBN News that train passengers are being diverted to the walkway along EDSA-North Avenue unloading area.
