A Carmelite nun has set the online community all across the globe to a buzz after her amazing story of departure went viral.
Rev. Sister Cecilia Maria suffered a dreadful disease and had died of cancer. However, her suffering before her death was not enough to hinder her from leaving with a smile on her beautiful face.
The Carmelite nun was part of Saints Teresa and Joseph Monastery in Santa Fe, Argentina.
Sister Cecilia Maria had always dreamt of becoming a nun. After graduating as a nursing student at 26-years-old, she pursued her real dream of becoming a nun.
Her first vow was made as a discalced Carmelite nun.
Aside from being prayerful, Sister Cecilia Maria was known by many as a cheerful person. This is why when she was diagnosed with cancer, many of her friends admired her for staying positive.
Even after her tongue cancer spread to her lungs, she remained faithful to the Lord and through prayers, she endured.
At the time of her death, the smile which lingered on her face was interpreted by many as a sign of being at peace. As a servant of the church, many speculated that her smile came from her belief that she is about to meet her Savior.
"Jesus! Just two lines to let you know that our dearly beloved sister gently fell asleep in the Lord, after such a painful illness, always borne with joy and her surrender to her Divine Spouse," her Carmelite sisters said.
"We send you all our love, grateful for your support and prayer during this entire time, so painful yet so wonderful at the same time. We believe she flew directly to heaven, but we also ask you to not cease commending her to your prayers, so from heaven she may repay you. A big hug from her Sisters in Santa Fe."
Sister Cecilia Maria's last wish which was written on a note was fulfilled just as she wanted.
"I was thinking about how I would like my funeral to be. First, some intense prayer and then a great celebration for everyone. Don’t forget to pray but don’t forget to celebrate either!"
