[Trending Now] Budget Secretary Proposes Bridge Link To Connect Luzon, Visayas And Mindanao

Although President Rodrigo Duterte's focus is on eradicating drugs and crime in the country, it seems that he also has plans of overhauling the infrastructure project of the country.

A cabinet official of the government confirmed on Monday that the government is now studying the proposal of possibly connecting Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao through a bridge link.

Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said the bridge will connect the three main lands of the country. The proposal will be studied by the National Economic Development Authority.

President Duterte is proposing a budget of up to P9 trillion for creating new roads, transport terminals, and bridges. His plans also hope to generate up to a million construction jobs. 

Also, aside from the new laborers for construction, the government is expecting that the tourism and manufacturing sectors will benefit from the project as well.

Furthermore, Diokno said that eradicating or lessening the restrictions on foreign ownership will result to up to 10 percent economic growth.
