The Philippine highest elected officer, President Rodrigo Duterte made an exclusive interview with the Al Jazeera which is a DOHA-based broadcaster in Qatar. Pres. Duterte discussed his drugs and foreign policy with the middle-eastern media.

During the President’s first 100 days, not only the Philippine television but also the international media have noticed his own way of resolving crime and drugs in the country. The drug-related killings of more than 3,500 people caught the attention of world leaders and human rights movements who claim that they are being offended of Duterte’s war against drugs.

Not only his drug war made noise but his foreign relations sparked controversies for his administration. One of which is his deteriorating relationship with the United States and his efforts to warm relations with China.

The tough-talking Philippine President expressed his intention of assassinating whoever has the will to destroy his country and future generation.

“We have three million drug addicts and its growing. So if we do not interdict this problem, the next generation will be having a serious problem. You destroy my country, I’ll kill you. And it’s a legitimate thing. If you destroy our young children, I will kill you. That is a correct statement. There is nothing wrong in trying to preserve the interest of the next generation.”

It may be a bloody administration indeed but the President is aware that innocent children and people are also being murdered through his drug war. With this, he promises to investigate extrajudicial killings but considered the death of the innocent people as “collateral damage”.

When Duterte was then asked about the contested South China Sea, he has his final words intact:

“We will not give up anything there; it’s an entitlement… You can only negotiate to prevent a war… They invited me for talks, and I will go”
