Amber Yaokasin could have had the grandest debut but she decided to give books to the poor kids in Tacloban; a good turn that could help them for a lifetime.

With their family owning a lot of business, including being the sole distributor of a well-known car brand in Leyte, Yaokasin used this advantage to help children access knowledge.

"I was thinking that if I would celebrate my birthday by holding a party, it would just be a one-day event and we would spend so much," she said, "But if I would donate a library with books in it, its effect would be long-term because it would be enjoyed by pupils not only this school year but in the years to come."

But this is not the first time she decided to celebrate her birthday by being charitable. In a report by Inquirer, her 15th birthday back in October 2013 was with kids of Barangay 88, one of the hardest hit areas of Yolanda and partied with them.

Yaokasin chose San Jose Elementary School (SJES) in Tacloban City as her recipient for her donation. The school received heartbreaking casualties in the wake of Yolanda with 120 kids dead from the supertyphoon.

SJES received more than 10,000 books, ranging from encyclopedias and reference books.

SJES principal Imelda Gayas expressed their gratitude son the young girl's act.

And what is her only wish for her 18th birthday?

"Take good care of the books so these can reach more than just this school year's population," she said.
