Following the arrest of former matinee idol Mark Anthony Fernandez, many celebrities expressed their support for him. Fernandez was arrested in Pampanga, after a kilo of marijuana was confiscated from him.

Recently, veteran actor Christopher De Leon reacted by saying:

“Oh, wow, wow… shocked! A kilo… of marijuana? That’s kinda hard to tackle, ‘no?"

“Hopefully, one of these days, I can visit my inaanak... inaanak ko pa yun! Just be there, just visit him and make him feel that we care. Kasi wala ka namang masasabi, 'pag nandun ka sa loob, masasabi mo bang, ‘Kumusta ka?’ or ‘Okay ka lang ba?’"

“Ang hirap… kasi ang kulungan talaga is hell, it’s hell!”

“Kasi naaalala ko yung pamangkin ko, 'di ba, sa Vizconde? Oo, acquitted, wala namang kasalanan, ang tagal, ang tagal [nakulong]."

“And every time I went there, it was just, like, halos tahimik lang kami. Tapos, kuwento ng ibang mga kalokohan!”

He was referring to his nephew Tony Boy Lejano, son of his sister Pinky De Leon, who was linked to the Vizconde massacre along with Hubert Webb, son of Freddie Webb, in 1992. Lejano stayed in prison for 15 years before getting acquitted. When asked about how Lejano's been doing, De Leon answered: “Ah, he’s all over the world! Biyahe nang biyahe.” he said laughing.

When asked about his view on the administration's war against drugs, he said:

“Well, tama na, tama na yung pakinggan natin ang Presidente. Pakinggan natin yung mga babala… let’s get serious, let’s stay away."

“Demonyo ‘yan, demonyo talaga 'yang droga, alam ko ‘yan. I’ve been there, I’ve done that and the only way that I was delivered from that was God. So, tamang-tama lahat ‘yan, sana maging way nila is to surrender themselves to our Maker.”

“During those days na I was taking it, I was losing everything. I was selling stuff, nobody wanted to get me for projects anymore. Friends were shying away from me, my parents were worried like hell. 'Yung family ko, iniwan ako."

“Wala kang panalo diyan. Hang on to God, kapit-tuko ka sa Panginoon, eventually, He will make a way for you.”

“Tama si Presidente… nagugulat nga ako. Akala ko nag-phase out na yang fad na ‘yan, e! Meron pa pala, e, ang dadami nilang nakukuha!”
