[Trending Now] WOW! Davao City Won 'Most Child-Friendly City' Award for the 5th Time!

Davao remains the most child-friendly city award, a prize which they have previously won 4 times. They won it in the year 1998, 1999, 2013, and 2014. With this, they are now a Hall of Fame Awardee. It has been a pride for the President who presented the award himself at Malacañang to the officials of Davao City namely lawyer Lawrence Bantiding, the assistant city administrator for operations, and Ms. Malu Bermudo, chief of the Davao City Social Services and Development Office last Monday, September 26. It was awarded through the  Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

It won under the Highly Urbanized Category. Among the awardees were the (3rd Class Municipality Category), Dumalneg, Ilocos Sur (4th Class to 6th Class Municipality Category), Iligan City (Component City Category), and Santiago City (Independent Component City Category).

“Congratulations to the people of Davao and the officials of the city government who made Davao City a safe and enjoyable place for children to live. Let us keep responding to the pressing needs of our children to be educated, fed, clothed, and provided with a safe home,”said Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte who shared how their city projects prioritize the rights and welfare of the children and has produced positive results. She also urged Dabawenyos to keep on making their city safer for children and that they should feel proud of the award.
