There is a tradition we Filipinos practice every time a family member or a special someone celebrates their birthday. Even though we earn just a fair amount of money and even if we actually don't have money, we would do any thing to provide a feast for the celebration.

Filipinos are known for their resilience amidst any obstacles that may come their way. This is proven and tested among the countless calamities that struck the country through out the years. It is not unsual to find kids swimming in floods and still find happiness in it. It is not unusual to see smiling residents waving to the camera just to be seen on TV even in typhoons. We're basically happy people immune to disasters.
Though there is no logical or scientific explanation on how Filipinos act the way they do, it is truly a time to be proud and glad that we are part of a loving and strong nation. A nation that overcomes any struggles together, even in unique ways.
Filipino will always strive to provide the best for their families because they put them first at all times.
To see their kids blow candles with smiles and to share wonderful moments together are what makes the celebrations worth it.
What matters in the eyes and hearts of the Filipinos is that families stick together no matter what because after all, at the end of any bad day, they are our hope. Our will to live and to face any struggle ahead.
