With Senator Leila De Lima at the receiving end of all controversies, judgement's and accusations from President Rodrigo Duterte and his numerous allies, De Lima admitted having a tinge of regret in winning her Senate seat.
On the press conference she tackled not only the recent events concerning Duterte's admission that the NBP Drug Matrix released may be flawed as it linked the names of three local officials of Pangasinan. The recent riot inside the maximum security penitentiary New Bilibid Prison was also discussed where she admitted seeing how all the fingers seemed to have pointed towards her.
Although she admitted, she further reaffirmed her grounds on the previous issues as she said that the job calls for her to take action.
When also asked about her options after her statement claiming the government machinery is against her, she said, "Right now, I have no option. I'm just here. I'm just trying to do my job, even if, of course, I'm so distracted. Nagtatanong mga iba, nakakatulog ka pa ba, nakakakain ka pa ba? Nakakakain pa naman po ako. Nakakatulog pa naman po ako, pero hindi na ho normal."
"So definitely it has a toll on my health, it has a toll on my very well-being. It has a toll on my family --- If you ask me, how do you feel, anong nararamdaman mo? Pakisabi nga ho sa akin how do I feel. Pakisabi nga ho sa akin. Alam niyo ba how do I feel? No one in this room can imagine itong dinadala ko sa loob, na hindi ko alam bakit ako, ako, at ako. Do I deserve this? I certainly do not. Tama na po. Stop it!"
