[Trending Now] The Reason Why Miriam Defensor-Santiago Passed Away

Currently, the reason of former Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago's death is still undisclosed to the public. Her husband Jun Santiago said she died in her sleep this morning.

“She died this morning in her sleep, she was unconscious when she passed away,” he told the Inquirer. Jun will make a statement within the day.

Santiago passed away at St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City where she had been taking treatments for complications of her ailment.

Santiago was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2014 and has taking on and off  on medications.

Last September 10, GMA News reported that Santiago was back in St. Luke's for cancer treatment but not in ICU.

Santiago was rushed to the Makati Medical Center on late May for pneumonia due to complications from the same cancer. She was discharged a week later.

She ran for president last May elections but lost to Rodrigo Duterte.
