Netizens of the Philippines were taken by surprise yesterday, and one that was pleasant to the ears.
Semi-finalist Eumee Capile won the championship from “Tawag ng Tanghalan”, the singing contest of afternoon primetime TV show “It’s ShowTime”.
Capile snatched the crown from defending champion Adrian Cubillas. The reggae singer sang Stevie Wonder’s “Lately” against Capile’s rendition of Sia’s “Chandelier”.
Capile defeated Cubillas with an over 6-point difference in their final scores.
Eumee Capile was a band vocalist from Bulacan, and was loved by the internet, as Filipinos from all over the world loved her performance.
The initial post from Facebook now has a whopping 1.3 million views and has accumulated more than 45,00 shares.
“Magaling siya na mangaawit, Kahangahangang skills sa pagkanta. Standing ovation ako, 4 thumbs up ako kasama daliri ko sa paa. Pati mga balahibo ko sa skin tumayo eh”, one Facebook user wrote.
Capile took her gratitude towards her fans on Facebook as well, saying that she is indeed thankful for all the support that she has been receiving from them.
She said will use the prize money to support her parents who are now retired.
