World war III had just started in senate after Senator Leila de Lima lampooned Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson for saying that evidences were enough to file case against her as stated by the witnesses accusing her active participation in illegal drug trade inside New Bilibid Prison.

De Lima said in her statement that Lacson "laughed off" accusations that she accepted bribes from prisoners and high-profile inmates in exchange for condoning drug dealings and luxurious life inside prison.

"Akala ko ba pinagtatawanan lang ni Sen. Ping itong persecution and harassment's being done to me, as he recalls his own harrowing experience with the Mawanay episode,” she said.

“Why is Sen. Ping saying now, based on media reports, that there's enough basis to now file charges against me prescinding from what transpired at yesterday's House hearing? Is he convinced of the authenticity and veracity of the "stories" of those obviously perjured witnesses? I'm aghast by some people's propensity for doublespeak!"

Sen. Lacson, clarifies that he didn't just laugh with all those accusations thrown to de Lima and that she "got it all wrong."

“She got it all wrong. When I said pinagtatawanan ko lang yung pinagdadaanan niya ngayon compared to what I experienced before, I wasn't referring to the credibility of evidence being presented against her now and against me before, but the degree of harassment that former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her cohorts in practically all the agencies of government were throwing against me,” he said.

“I was all alone at that time. I had practically nobody on my side except probably my family, while she has her LP allies supporting her now. She shouldn't be twisting my statement to suit her purpose.”

Lacson faced investigation way back 2001 after former whistleblower Angelo “Ador” Mawanay accused him for having millions of pesos from illegal drug trading and kidnapping, and hiding and that he is hiding all his wealth in Hong Kong and United States bank account.

At the end, it was revealed that the witness used to pinpoint Lacson was just pressured by Arroyo to destroy Lacson.
