A company in central China’s Henan province attempts to promote nationalism and some serious values to its employees after banning them from getting the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7Plus.
A memorandum was released stating the new policy by the company that anyone who buys the phone will be immediately fired or be forced to resign.
The company hopes this will encourage their people to care more for their family and buy domestic products.
The company located in Nanyang City issued the warning in an official notice signed by the company's administrative department to the staff.
They also want their employees to boycott any Japanese or American made products.
First published by HNR.cn, the news was confirmed by Yingxiang Net, which also didn’t release the name of the company.
“If we have some disposable income, and if conditions allow it, let’s use the money to take better care of our parents’ health.
Let’s pay more attention to our kids’ growth, to the value of life and to the prosperity of our country,” read the memo as reported by the People’s Daily Online.
The policy's release date, September 18th, was intentional.
September 18, 2016 was the 85th anniversary of the Mukden or Manchurian Incident, also known in Chinese as "Jiu Yiba Shibian", when a staged explosion in the Manchurian city of Mukden (Shenyang) provided Japan with pretext for its invasion of northeast China in 1931.
The incident still carries bad memories for Chinese people today: on that day, memorial services are held across the country.
