[Trending Now] BREAKING NEWS: Trillanes To Prove Matobato’s Accusations Against Duterte

In an interview with dzBB Super Radyo, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV claimed that he will prove Edgar Matobato’s statements and accusations against President Rodrigo Duterte. He said that he will present his validated information in the Senate hearing in the coming days when the committee on justice and human rights resume their investigation.

It can be recalled that Edgar Matobato was presented in the Senate hearing as witness to prove allegations filed against President Rodrigo Duterte regarding extrajudicial killings. Matobato’s credibility was questioned because some of the Senators find inconsistency in his statements. Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV criticized his fellow-lawmakers who questioned Matobato’s credibility. He said that while some of them are proving that Matobato is lying, he will prove that Matobato is telling the truth. He said that he conducted his own investigations and the result of these investigations will be presented in the Senate hearing soon.

“Habang yung mga kasamahan natin ay nakatutok kung paano bubutasan si Mr. Matobato, ako nagkalap ng mga ebidensya at impormasyon to validate ang mga sinasabi niya” Trillanes said.

Trillanes claimed that Matobato’s statements are indeed consistent and valid. This statement of Trillanes is contradictory to the statements of Sen. Richard Gordon, Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano who said that Matobato’s claims are full of inconsistencies. They noticed that Matobato’s statements are flip-flopping and so he cannot be considered as a credible witness.

It can also be remembered that Trillanes was once a part of the Honor Committee of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He also cited how they conduct investigations like this in his former committee.

“Ang ginawa namin 'pag may ganyang impormasyon, pinipiga namin para mapalalim yung impormasyon para malaman namin yung katotohanan. Hindi yung bubutasan mo tapos babaliwalain mo. Hindi ka makakakuha ng katotohanan ng ganon," the Senator added.

The senator who was known to be against Duterte even before, claimed that sooner or later, the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights will realize the truth behind Matobato’s accusations against Duterte.

“May nakuha tayong mga impormasyon at ipapakita natin 'yan sa mga darating na araw para makita na rin nila na itong si Mr. Matobato ay nagsasabi ng totoo” Trillanes said.

To initially prove Matobato,he said that during his investigations he discovered evidences that, Salik Makdum, a terrorist believed to have been assassinated by Matobato, indeed existed before.

“Hindi agad pinaniwalaan kasi wala naman daw taong Sali Makdum sa Google. Pero siya (Matobato), nakita mo siya buo ang loob niya na ... totoo 'yang tao na 'yan. Nakita nila na meron palang taong ganoon. Hindi pa ba proof 'yan na nagsasabi ng totoo yung mama?” the lawmaker said with full conviction.

Meanwhile, Trillanes recognized the decision of the Senate to bring police officials who are alleged to be members of the Davao Death Squad (DDS) in the Senate panel hearing to test Matobato’s credibility. The newly-elected committee Chairman Sen. Richard Gordon allowed the motion to invite the presence of the alleged members of DDS for Thursday’s hearing.

Magkakaalaman na. Kung hindi mo nakasama yang mga pulis na yan, hindi mo makikilala yan,” Trillanes said when asked what is his reaction about the senate’s motion.

Kung 'di niya ma-identify yun wala na, tapos na ang lahat. Kasi sinasabi niya mga kasamahan ko ito, dapat kilala niya ito. That’s one test of the credibility. Then palalim tayo ng palalim," the Senator added.
