The vice mayor of Talitay, Maguindanao and his wife were arrested by the police forces after they were caught with illegal firearms and drugs an improvised explosive device that was identical to the bomb used in the Davao Night Market Bombing last Sept. 2.
In a report from PTV, Talitay Vice Mayor Abdulwahad Sabal and his wife Mohanna were arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) – Anti Illegal Drugs Group last Sept. 8 and were filed charges against them.
The couple violted the Republic Act 9165 at Republic Act 10591 o Comprehensive Firearm Law and Illegal Possession after the authorities confiscated a 45 pistol, grenades, m16 rifle, and 12 sachets of shabu. An Improvised Explosive Device that identical with the bomb used in the Davao City night market bombing was also confiscated.
There are some reports that the Vice Mayor is one of the people who organized the bombing as one bomb-maker confirmed it last week.
PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said it was too early to conclude that Vice Mayor Sabal is the one to be blamed.
“We received information of his links in the Davao Bombing, but this is just an information. It is yet to be validated” PNP Chief Dela Rosa said.
Extremist group Abu Sayyaf first claimed the responsibility of the bombing but withdrew later on, saying it was their ally who did it.
