Recently, the country celebrated as one of our athletes won a silver medal in Olympics 2016 held at Rio, Brazil.
Hidilyn Diaz was able to lift 200kg at the women's 53kg category last Monday and grabbed the 2nd place spot. Her win is the country's first since 1996 where Onyok Velasco won a silver medal as well. She is now set to receive Php 5 Million from the government as mandates by the Philippine Law.
But her triumph also led to the revelation that Onyok Velasco still hasn't received her Php2.5 Million pesos and other incentives from his silver medal back in 1996.
The monetary reward for medalists have been doubled since Velasco's time but this is a big question for Hidilyn's reward.
