The impending burial of the former President Ferdinand Marcos have created a huge ruckus among allies. The decision of President Rodrigo Duterte to allow Marcos in the Libingan ng mga Bayani was greatly opposed by many in the senate and even those noted as his loyal allies could not help but to express their opposition as well.

Former Senate President and now the PDP Laban chair emeritus Aquilino "Nene" Pimentel Jr. insinuated renaming the hero's cemetery to "Libingan Ng Mga Bayani At Iba Pa" to make it fit for the looming burial of Marcos.

Pimentel is among those who have survived martial law and have harbored a strong abhorrence to the former dictator. He said adding "At Iba Pa" to the name of the burial ground would pertain to the dictator alone implying that he was not a hero for he misused his powers as president.

"He is no hero. He has misused his power when he put the country under martial rule and has caused the disappearance of so many people, the deaths of so many people opposing the martial law regime and the torture of innumerable detainees," he said on an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

"As Rizal said, ‘El sitio nada importa.’ It is what one does in life that matters; not where he or she is buried," he added hoping that the decision in regards to the dictator's burial would be reconsidered and be buried instead in Ilocos Norte, the fortress and stronghold of the Marcos family.

PDP Laban, President Duterte's party during the election, clearly opposes his decision along with other allies of the President including his defeated running mate, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.
